FREMANTLE has lost important goalkicker Matt Taberner on the eve of its crucial Sunday clash with the Western Bulldogs, with the key forward a late withdrawal due to a quad injury.

Taberner, who has kicked 29 goals from 16 games this year in a breakout campaign, has been replaced by speedster Travis Colyer.

It is the second major injury blow for the Dockers, who had already lost star midfielder Michael Walters to a foot issue. Tobe Watson had been dropped, with Liam Henry and Reece Conca coming into the side.

Fremantle's injury pain is equally shared by keen onlookers Melbourne, who need the Dockers to secure an upset victory over the Western Bulldogs in Cairns to secure the final spot in the top eight.
