The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the matches from round three of the 2014 AFL Premiership Season. The following charges were laid:

Jack Riewoldt, Richmond, has been charged with a level one tripping offence (80 demerit points, reprimand) for tripping Tom Liberatore, Western Bulldogs, during the third quarter of the round three match between Richmond and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 5, 2014.
In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Western Bulldogs Football Club, the incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 80 demerit points and a reprimand. He has no good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 60 points towards his future record.

Matthew Lobbe, Port Adelaide, has been charged with a first offence for making negligent contact with an Umpire ($1200 sanction) for making negligent contact with umpire Jason Armstrong during the second quarter of the round three match between Port Adelaide and North Melbourne, at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 6, 2014.
In summary, he can accept a $900 sanction with an early plea.

Other incidents assessed:
The match day report against the Sydney Swans’ Jarrad McVeigh for rough conduct against Adelaide’s Matthew Jaensch in the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The ball is handballed towards Jaensch who fumbles to collect the ball, McVeigh makes high contact with Jaensch in an attempted bump. After viewing all the available footage, speaking with the umpire who laid the report and receiving a medical report from the Adelaide Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used by McVeigh was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between Fremantle’s Jack Hannath and Hawthorn’s Matthew Spangher from the first quarter of Friday’s game was assessed. The ball is kicked into the Fremantle forward line where Spangher attempts to mark the ball. Hannath attempts to spoil the mark and makes high contact with Spangher. A free kick was paid at the time and it was the view of the panel that the forced used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Western Bulldogs’ Liam Jones and Richmond’s Daniel Jackson from the third quarter of Saturday’s game was assessed. The ball is loose on the ground and Jones is running to the contest. As Jones bends down to attempt to gain possession, the ball is kicked away from the contest and Jackson, attempting to collect the ball, moves into the path of Jones who takes Jackson high. It was the view of the panel that Jones had no realistic alternative way to approach the football. No further action was taken.
