IT CAME a week later than his Adelaide teammates might have wanted, but Lachie Sholl's nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star arrived just in time.

In the final round of the year, the Crows midfielder scooped up the last available nomination for 2020 following an impressive end to the season.

RISING STARS Who's been nominated?

Sholl was overlooked for the round 17 nomination after his 24-disposal and two-goal best-afield performance in Adelaide's win over Carlton as the selectors rewarded Collingwood's Isaac Quaynor for his sustained performances across the season.

It saw Crows teammates, including defender Tom Doedee, take to Twitter last week to wonder why the youngster had been missed for the round's nomination.

But Sholl, a hard-running and skillful midfielder, has become Adelaide's first nomination of this season after another impressive outing against the Tigers last Saturday.

The son of former Carlton player Brett gathered 19 disposals and six marks to continue his exciting end to Adelaide's season.

Sholl, who was drafted to the club with pick No.64 at the 2018 NAB AFL Draft, finished the season with eight games to his name and appearing a nice part of Adelaide's future.
