GOLD Coast has left the door open to trading former top-10 draft picks Peter Wright and Will Brodie despite both being under contract. 

Suns football manager Jon Haines told AFL.com.au the club was committed to both players but understood there would be interest from rivals. 

Wright, who is contracted until 2022, did not play a game this season, kept out of the team by Ben King and Sam Day.  

"Guys who are that height (203cm) who kick the ball really well and get around the ground are going to generate interest," Haines said. 

"From our point of view Pete's contracted but he's within his rights to understand what level of interest is out there as well. 

"I think the bottom line is we'll be open-minded, but he sits as a contracted player."

Brodie is in a similar boat, playing just the opening round before not being sighted again. 

The No.9 pick from the 2016 NAB AFL Draft has played 20 games in four seasons and was kept out of his preferred inside midfield role by Adelaide recruit Hugh Greenwood, Touk Miller, co-captain David Swallow and teenage sensation Matt Rowell.

A little over 12 months ago Brodie negotiated a deal to take him through until the end of 2022 and Haines says that demonstrates the club's commitment to him.

"We understand also he's a really driven young man that wants to play AFL footy," Haines said.

"In terms of this upcoming trade period there's no doubt there'll probably be interest from other clubs in a player like Will, so we just need to see how that plays out.

"We believe in Will, we're committed to him."

Coach Stuart Dew says he'd like to develop Brodie into a Mitch Wallis-style role, an inside mid that learns to play as a forward.

Dew added that he expects Brayden Fiorini, who was dropped three times from five games this year, to "fight for his position" in 2021. 

"He loves the footy club and we love Brayden," Dew said. 

"It's been a difficult year for him and he's willing to fight for his position, which is his personality.

"We understand he would be frustrated from a pure games played point of view.

"He's a great character and he handled his year better than anyone considering he would have had some personal frustrations."

Haines also confirmed Jarrod Harbrow would play on in 2021, with both parties keen to extend the career of the 32-year-old.
