BRISBANE'S top-two hopes have taken a blow, with star defender Harris Andrews suspended for a rather innocuous off-the-ball incident on Saturday night.

Andrews appeared to strike North Melbourne forward Nick Larkey with a forearm to the throat, giving away a free kick as a result of the incident in the early stages of the clash.

The defender held his ground as Larkey approached him, before attempting to use his forearm to fend off his opponent but only succeeding in catching him high.

Broadcast vision did not capture the incident, though the AFL has confirmed that Andrews was reported by the field umpire Andrew Stephens in the immediate aftermath.

Despite the minimal contact and Larkey instantly returning to his feet to take his free kick, the incident was graded by Match Review Officer Michael Christian as low impact.

Combined with an intentional conduct and a high contact grading, it was enough to see Andrews offered a one-match suspension by the Match Review.

He will subsequently miss Brisbane's clash with Hawthorn in Launceston on Saturday, should he elect to not challenge the ban at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

Dayne Zorko and Jy Simpkin have also been offered $1000 misconduct fines following a separate controversial incident during the same game.

Zorko had pinched Simpkin's leg, leading to the North Melbourne youngster appearing to kick his Brisbane opponent away, with both handed monetary sanctions.

In other Match Review news, West Coast premiership defender Tom Barrass has no case to answer following a bump that left Melbourne co-captain Jack Viney concussed on Sunday.

Barrass had just handballed the footy away before collecting Viney with his shoulder.

Greater Western Sydney forward Jeremy Finlayson was also given a $1000 misconduct fine for nudging Flynn Appleby with his knees, while Carlton forward Jack Silvagni was slapped with a $1000 fine for making careless contact with an umpire on Saturday.
