DELISTED Carlton midfielder Kane Lucas has had a medical examination at West Coast and looks set to resurrect his AFL career in his home state.
AFL.com.au understands the 23-year-old met with the Eagles on Monday and is hopeful of being selected in the upcoming NAB AFL Draft or the rookie draft.
West Coast preferred not to comment when contacted by AFL.com.au on Wednesday evening.
The meeting came after Eagles coach Adam Simpson publicly declared Lucas was "on the radar" a fortnight ago.
It is believed the Western Bulldogs also showed an interest in securing Lucas, but the West Australian is seeking a return home.
Lucas featured in 42 games for the Blues after five injury-interrupted years.
The No.12 pick in the 2009 draft tore his hamstring twice in his first season after playing the first eight games.
He won Carlton's best first-year player award in 2010, but he battled to string together games in the following years after a medial ligament injury in the VFL and hip and back niggles.
Lucas featured in five of the Blues' first seven games this year before being dropped after the round seven loss to Collingwood.
