The 21-year-old, who has played 12 games in three seasons, is the second Swan to request a move to the Giants after premiership ruckman Shane Mumford crossed to the expansion club.
Recruited with pick No.21 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Lamb advised the Swans early this week that he would seek a move to join the Giants for more playing opportunities.
GWS appears confident it will land its target, stating on Tuesday that Lamb "would be a very valuable addition to the Giants".
"Jed Lamb is a very impressive young player who we hope will be able to play a variety of roles at the Giants," list manager Stephen Silvagni said.
"He is highly rated, can kick goals and will be a great fit for our list.
"He has had three years in the AFL system in Sydney and has shown he has what it takes to succeed at the elite level and will have a long career ahead of him."
The Giants will seek to secure Lamb, who is out of contract, through the trade period, but they also have the option of pushing him through to the pre-season draft if a deal can't be arranged.
