WHILE Carlton and the Brisbane Lions settle Brendan Fevola's move north, a number of ruckmen - including Darren Jolly, Josh Fraser and Shane Mumford - are caught in trade discussions.

The Herald Sun reports that Collingwood has landed Sydney Swans ruckman Jolly, 27, in exchange for draft picks No.14 and No.46.

However, The Age reports that for the Swans to release Jolly - their first-choice ruckman, who has requested a trade to a Melbourne-based club - they will first need to secure Geelong big man Shane Mumford.

Speculation that Jolly will end up at Collingwood has cast doubt on Fraser's future with the Pies, with Jolly joining Cameron Wood at the Lexus Centre, a player for which the Pies gave up their first round draft pick (No.14) during the 2007 exchange period.

The Jolly deal also means former West Coast ruckman Mark Seaby, who spent 2009 behind Dean Cox, Nic Naitanui and Quinten Lynch in the Eagles' ruck pecking order, could lead the Swans' onball division next season.

Meanwhile, Melbourne yesterday re-signed ruckman Mark Jamar, putting an end to Port Adelaide's hopes of getting the big man.

The Fevola deal between Carlton and the Lions has been widely reported as being agreed in-principle, with Lions forward Daniel Bradshaw and midfielder Michael Rischitelli earmarked to head to Carlton.

The Australian reports that any reluctance from the Victorian pair to join the Blues is the only roadblock in the Fevola deal, with the Lions to take over the Coleman Medallist's lucrative contract.

Meanwhile, The Age reports that Luke Ball's request to move to Collingwood is turning into a three-way struggle.

The trade seems dependant on Collingwood finding a draft pick they can pass on to St Kilda, which the Saints will then use to secure Western Bulldog Andrejs Everitt.

At Hawthorn, while the club denies Campbell Brown was put up for trade in order to secure Shaun Burgoyne, Josh Kennedy and Ben McGlynn are headed to the Swans for a draft pick, according to The Age.

While Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett was on the front foot yesterday, claiming no Hawthorn premiership player would be offered up for trade, the Herald Sun suggests there are only eight Hawthorn players that the club considers untouchable.

The newspaper says captain Sam Mitchell, vice-captain Luke Hodge, Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, Cyril Rioli, Jordan Lewis, Grant Birchall and Ryan Schoenmakers are the only players Hawthorn will not trade.

The Herald Sun also reports that forward Mark Williams - a member of the Hawks' 2008 premiership side - appears destined for Essendon.

The 2009 AFL exchange period runs from October 5-9. No trades are official until paperwork has been accepted by the AFL and formally recognised after 2pm on Friday, October 9.
