JEFF Farmer's career is in jeopardy after the Fremantle goalsneak missed a club session last week and was stood down for this Sunday's clash with Essendon.

Farmer was a no-show at Fremantle's compulsory recovery session in Melbourne last Saturday following the club's eight-point loss to St Kilda the night before.

And Heath Black will also be forced to make his way back into the team via South Fremantle in the WAFL after missing a different training session.

Black, 29, has finished serving a two-match suspension for striking Lion Troy Selwood but was not considered for selection in Fremantle's team this weekend.

Fremantle assistant coach Peter German had a simple message for the pair - if you do the crime, you do the time.

"I am sure everyone is (disappointed). Everyone is expected to do the right thing," German told Racing Radio.

"One thing about football clubs is that everyone has got to toe the line.

"That is really the only way you get success, if everyone is rowing in the same direction.

"And everyone is expected to play their part on and off the field, and that is not just players; that is coaches, admin staff and everyone.

"If you do the crime, you have got to do the time and that is consistent for Fremantle football club from now until eternity."

A club spokesman said that as it stands, Farmer's penalty is just the one-match ban.

Farmer, 31, is in the final year of his contract with the club and was publicly put on notice three weeks ago by coach Mark Harvey to prove his value to the team in the second half of the season.

But Farmer's manager Anthony Van Der Wielen said he was confident his client's latest misdemeanour wouldn't affect his chances of a contract extension.

"The club's comments to me were that this doesn't change anything, we are still on track to sit down at the end of the year and we'll re-assess it then," Van Der Wielen said.

"They've made it clear he will be eligible for selection after this week.

"Jeff obviously needs to keep his form in a good spot and keep his behaviour at a good level."

In a written statement, the club said: "Jeff's one-year contract will be reviewed at the end of the year, which has always been the club's intention."

Black is contracted until the end of 2009.
