NEW Power draftee Glenn Dawson met an old 'foe' on Sunday, Australian cricketer Michael Hussey, but this time couldn’t send him back to the dressing room with a broken bat.

Dawson, a talented junior cricketer, was a nets bowler for the Australian cricket team when they faced New Zealand in the test series in November last year.

It gave Dawson a moment he’ll never forget when one of his deliveries to Hussey was good enough to break the top order batsman’s bat! Hussey was kind enough to sign the broken bat and give it to Dawson to keep. Dawson was drafted by the Power just a few weeks later.

With the Australian team back in town for the one-dayer against South Africa, Dawson took the opportunity on Sunday morning to bowl to Hussey once again.

But this time the bat remained intact.

Dawson came in off the short run and hit the spot straight away but Hussey was untroubled, playing a perfect forward defence to the majority of the 12 or so deliveries.

Dawson gave Hussey a team-signed Power guernsey as a belated thanks for receiving the signed (broken) Kookaburra bat.

The amicable and friendly Hussey had to quickly remind everyone he was a West Coast fan, even joking with Dawson that he would get big Quinten Lynch to ‘run through him’ next season as payback for the broken bat! But he did say he would hang onto the Power jumper and keep it alongside his Eagles one.
