Both Randwick and Westmead Hospital’s host regular visits from the Swans players to meet their special patients and hopefully forget momentarily, the reason for the stay in hospital.

The Swans are proud to be associated with the Sydney Children's Hospital and enjoy visiting the wards on a regular basis.

Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick, provides the highest quality of comprehensive medical services for the children of NSW and beyond. They care for newborns through to adolescents from day-only care to continual care throughout a child’s life.

Catharina Boer, Public Affairs Department at Randwick, comments on the special relationship between the two parties:

Players from the Sydney Swans AFL Club continue to forge a very special relationship with their fans at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.

For many years now, players have been regularly visiting the hospital as part of their ongoing support to the Hospital.

Spending time in hospital can be a difficult time – especially if you are a child. A visit from their favourite AFL players can make a world of difference. The patients also appreciate the time taken out from their busy training schedules.

The Children's Hospital at Westmead is one of the most well respected paediatric centres in the world, reaching beyond its walls to care for children in rural areas and in their own homes.

Caring for kids comes naturally to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead as they have been doing it for 120 years.

The Hospital will continue as a world leader in the care and welfare of all children as they continue to work in partnership with the government and the community - whose support is vital.

Debra Fowler, Public Relations Officer says, “The visits by the Swans players are always popular and immensely enjoyed by the children.

“Visits by sporting teams, celebrities, clowns and even farm animals are what make the Hospital a special place for many of its patients.”
