PAFC: How long have you been a Power member?
Shane: Since the club moved into the AFL, in 1997.
Where do you sit at games?
On centre-wing in the outer. It’s premium terrace, which is pretty good. I sit with my wife and two kids, Brayden and Crystal, and extended family. It’s a great day out with the family.
Why do you love the Port Adelaide Football Club?
Basically because I dislike the Crows (laughs). No, we followed Port in the SANFL and then when they moved into the AFL we kept following them. I love the tradition and the way we play the game – tough and hard.
What is your best memory at AAMI Stadium?
That would have to be the Preliminary Final in 2004. It was my birthday and it was just awesome – the crowd was great and the game was a heart-stopper – what a birthday present! We had a perfect view from behind where Gavin Wanganeen kicked the winning goal in the last quarter. It was an incredible goal to top off an incredible game!
Favourite Power moment (outside of Premiership)?
We travelled to Victoria to see the Power play Carlton, when Tredrea kicked 8 goals and also did his knee in the same game. That was a great game, except for Tredders going down of course.
Favourite player? Why?
Steven Salopek and Brett Ebert, just for the way they play the game. Ebert is such a great mark above his head for his size. Sal is just a great in and under player.
Which young player has caught your eye the most?
Matty Thomas and also Travis Boak. They’re so young and I see lot of potential with them.
Which player typifies the Port Adelaide Football Club best and why?
Chad Cornes. He’s always tough at the ball and he plays through pain, like the game against St. Kilda when he broke his finger and came back on and played. That’s the sort of thing Port Adelaide stands for.
What do you like about going to games at AAMI Stadium?
I just enjoy seeing games live with family and friends. It’s just great being there.
What could be done differently?
Probably being able to have a beer at my seat would be nice, but not too much other than that.
