ST KILDA defender Sam Fisher has won his second club best and fairest in a narrow finish on Saturday night.
Fisher polled 557 votes to win the Trevor Barker Award, just three in front of midfielder Nick Dal Santo.
Fisher was one of St Kilda's most consistent players in a season that started slowly but finished strongly. His work across half-back was also rewarded with a nomination for the 2011 All Australian squad.
He first won the award in 2008, a season in which the Saints made the preliminary final.
The 29-year-old had 486 disposals and 153 marks in 2011.
Since debuting for St Kilda in 2004, Fisher has played 167 games and kicked 20 goals, cementing himself as one of the AFL's premier defenders.
Dal Santo was the hot favourite to win his first best and fairest after a stellar season that was capped with All Australian selection and a third placing in the Brownlow Medal.
Low-profile defender Sean Dempster finished third in the vote counting with 490 votes for his work in defence and in the middle.
Dempster performed plenty of important stopping roles throughout 2011, getting the better of AFL stars such as Brent Harvey, Ryan O'Keefe and Andrew Embley.
Dempster also won the Robert Harvey Most Professional Player Award.
St Kilda veterans Stephen Milne, Nick Riewoldt, Brendon Goddard, Jason Gram and Leigh Montagna all featured in the top 10.
Former coach Ross Lyon and former player Steven Baker did not attend the evening, Baker announcing on Twitter that he had another engagement.
