DRAFT prospect Darcy Fogarty's season has come to an abrupt end, with the South Australian requiring knee surgery.
Fogarty started the season as one of the leading contenders for the No.1 pick at this year's NAB AFL Draft, but struggled throughout his state's national carnival campaign.
The robust and physical forward, who can also play in the midfield and has been trialled in defence, carried a small knee complaint throughout the under-18 championships.
It wasn't severe enough to stop him from playing, however it has worsened in recent weeks and the surgery for the small meniscus tear will end his season. He has refused to blame his form struggles on the injury.
Recruiters had hoped the 192cm Fogarty would be able to return to club side Glenelg and recapture his best after the championships, but the injury blow will leave him as a difficult prospect to assess.
Fellow South Australian draft hopeful Callum Coleman-Jones will also miss the rest of the season as he undergoes knee surgery to solve a patella issue.
Coleman-Jones was named in the All Australian side after a strong under-18 carnival with South Australia playing as a ruckman who can push forward.
