ESSENDON will receive a boost in its final game of the season, with midfielders Ben Howlett and David Myers expected to return from injury to face Collingwood on Saturday night at the MCG.

Howlett hasn't played since straining his hamstring in the Bombers' round 19 loss to Adelaide, while Myers has been unavailable since receiving a kick to his calf in round 17. The pair is likely to get through fitness tests before meeting the Magpies.

"We hope to have Ben Howlett and David Myers back in the fold, which is great news," Essendon football manager Paul Hamilton told essendonfc.com.au.

"They should both be available - given they get through this week without any complications or problems."

Hamilton confirmed small forward Alwyn Davey would miss the final round of the year after suffering a hamstring injury last week against Richmond.

"He will miss the last game of the year and will go through the normal rehab process to get it right," Hamilton said.

"It is important with all our soft tissues that we get people 100 per cent so that when we come back to pre-season, we are ready to go.

"It is important we have a good pre-season program in place to make sure we don't have the same high level of soft tissue injuries that we have had this year."

Hamilton said key forward Stewart Crameri would be fit to play despite appearing to injure his shoulder last week.
