MELBOURNE football operations general manager Chris Connolly says the club is hopeful star Demon Brad Green will remain in red and blue colours.

Speaking upon arrival for the start of the exchange period at Telstra Dome, Connolly said Green had yet to put pen to paper, but was optimistic the Tasmanian would stay at Melbourne.

"We're remaining positive that he'll re-sign," Connolly told afl.com.au.

Connolly said Melbourne is hoping to gain further draft selections via this week's trade period.

"We want to better our position with more picks or better position picks," Connolly said.
