ESSENDON has continued to secure its key players with ruckman David Hille signing for a further two years.

The 28-year-old's new deal follows the commitment of captain Jobe Watson and key position player Michael Hurley, who both agreed to terms in the last fortnight.

"This contract will see me stay at the Bombers until I am 31 years old," Hille told Essendon's website.

"That will be 13 years at the one club which is something I am proud of.

"I am one of the senior guys now and it's good to be able to help the young guys develop during this period of transition at the club.

"We are looking to develop a team that can compete in September and it's a good time to be at Essendon."

Hille has played every game for the Bombers this season in a strong return from the ACL tear that ended his 2009 campaign by round five.

He has shared ruck and forward line duties with Patrick Ryder, who shouldered last year's responsibilities in his teammate's absence.

"I am feeling really confident in my body and that confidence will only grow as the season goes on," Hille said.

General manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said Hille was a strong leader and was close to recapturing the form he enjoyed before his knee injury.

"Hille is an important player for us and people probably forget he won our best and fairest in 2008," he said.

"He is a player that has a real presence out there on the ground."

Hille has played 156 games for Essendon since his 2001 debut. He was the club's acting captain in 2006, when Matthew Lloyd was sidelined with a serious hamstring injury.
