Collingwood Copeland Trophy recipient Alan Didak cannot remember a stranger day than the one in which he cinched his first club best and fairest. The day started off in the worst fashion possible with the goalsneak arrested, briefly detained and awaiting the prospect of a public drunkenness charge due to a dispute with a taxi driver in the early hours of Friday morning.Didak that afternoon faced a hungry throng of media to explain his early-morning actions before proceeding to the Copeland Trophy count at Crown. He then fronted his teammates and supporters for a different reason – to accept his first club best and fairest award."It's been a weird day. I never expected to get taken away by some people I never thought would take me away and to win a Copeland on the same night just tops it off," Didak said after accepting the award from club great Peter McKenna."I have mixed emotions. I was pretty upset when I rocked up to the club today and to win the Copeland now … what an absolute honour."I just want to congratulate the other awards winners tonight. I really thought anyone in the top five could have won the Copeland and hopefully the boys can continue their form into next season and strive for a top four position and win a flag."The 23-year-old also revealed he remains optimistic his recovery from a recent knee reconstruction will enable him to play in the Magpies' opening round encounter in 2007."With all the right rehab, I'll hopefully be back in time for round one," he said, to the hearty applause of the Collingwood faithful."But I have to sit down with our fitness guru and go through the process of getting my quad back, because I've lost a lot of muscle around my quad, but there's no doubt I'll be doing everything to get in time for round one."If not, I'll be back within two or three weeks of that. I can't wait for next year."
