Travis Cloke, Tyson Goldsack, Alan Toovey and Cameron Wood saw firsthand this week what homeless Victorians face each night during the winter when they accompanied the Salvation Army outreach van on one of its nightly visits.

The players were helping to launch this week’s Jason Bring a Blanket Day appeal, which encourages supporters to donate a new or clean blanket to someone in need. 105,000 homeless people will be forced to sleep outside this winter with that number rising each year.

Cloke said the visit helped put things into perspective for him and encouraged all supporters to get involved with Jason Bring a Blanket Day.

“Seeing these people who struggle every day and are just so appreciative to get a hot meal really makes you grateful for your life and understand what’s most important.

“I would encourage all our supporters to donate to Jason Bring a Blanket Day this week and help someone who really needs it”.

Collingwood together with its partners, Jason Bedding and Crazy Johns will be collecting blankets for the Salvation Army at the Collingwood v Hawthorn match this Sunday outside the MCG and distributing them to homeless Victorians.

Jason Bedding continues to provide support to the Salvation Army by donating thousands of blankets each year towards Bring a Blanket Day.
