North Melbourne forward Matt Campbell will be eased back into football after an ankle injury. The live-wire forward is set to play for VFL affiliate North Ballarat on Sunday afternoon.

Despite being named as an emergency for the clash against the Crows, coach Brad Scott confirmed on Friday morning that he'd prefer to give the number 33 at least a week in the two's to regain match fitness.

"We feel he’s ready to play football and I think it’s worth having him on the emergency list if something happens to one of our players between now and game time," Scott told kangaroos.com.au.

"If we need him as an emergency I’m confident we can bring him in, but ideally we’d prefer him to play in the VFL."

While North Ballarat and Werribee sit at opposite ends of the table, there's sure to be plenty of spirit in the game with up to 14 North Melbourne players facing off.

One of those is Aaron Black who'll be eager to be back out on the park. The 19 year-old was struck down with a groin injury in the early part of the season but has been named at full-forward in just his second game for the Roosters.

Fellow draftees Ayden Kennedy, Brayden Norris and Jamie MacMillan will also be in action, while rookie Matthew Scott has been named on the interchange after earning best on ground honours in the reserves last week.

With the senior team playing on Saturday night, it's the perfect opportunity to get a glimpse of the future of North Melbourne.
