Player Development Coach Steve Malaxos rates Fremantle’s players who played in the WAFL at the weekend.

James Walker (Peel) Possessions: 27 kicks, 11 handballs, 3 marks, 4 goals
Malaxos says:
James had an outstanding game in Peel’s eight point win over Subiaco. He started in the midfield and had an excellent first half before being moved to half forward. Each of his four goals were kicked on the run and he had a hand in setting up several others. He was closely monitored after half time.

Brock O’Brien (Peel) Possessions: 6 kicks, 2 handballs, 3 marks
Malaxos says:
He played in a few different roles in defence and in the midfield and did some good things. He is continuing well with his development.

Ryan Crowley (Subiaco) Possessions: 9 kicks, 11 handballs, 4 marks, 1 goal
Malaxos says:
Started on the wing and moved into the middle. Stepped up in the last quarter when the game was on the line after coming off late in the third term for a breather.

Andrew Foster (East Fremantle) Possessions: 10 kicks, 12 handpasses, 6 marks, 1 goal
Malaxos says:
Andrew had another impressive performance for the Sharks through their midfield and he worked hard all day. Featured in East Fremantle’s best.

Garrick Ibbotson (East Fremantle) Possessions: 18 kicks, 10 handpasses, 6 marks
Malaxos says:
Had another strong performance on the wing for the Sharks in their big win over the Swans. He combined well with Foster in the midfield to help deliver the ball forward effectively. Ran hard all day and created well and also laid four tackles.

Chris Smith (Swan Districts) Possessions: 6 kicks, 4 handpasses, 3 marks
Malaxos says:
It was a hard day at the office for Chris considering East Fremantle were on song, winning by 109 points.

Ryan Murphy (South Fremantle) Possessions: 15 kicks, 3 handpasses, 6 marks, 1 goal
Malaxos says:
Had a bit of a hard time when in the forward line as the kicks coming in were not the cleanest and Eric Mackenzie defended well. He was moved into the ruck in the last quarter and performed well in a role he’s not all that familiar with.

Paul Duffield (South Fremantle) Possessions: 8 kicks, 6 handpasses, 3 marks
Malaxos says:
Started on Anthony Jones before moving into the middle and getting good numbers in the clearance department. Also provided good run and was efficient with his skills.

Benet Copping (East Perth) Possessions: 4 kicks, 3 handpasses, 2 marks
Malaxos says:
Benet kept his opponent goal less in what was a solid shut down performance on one of Perth’s key forwards.

Troy Cook (Perth) Possessions: 8 kicks, 7 handpasses, 2 marks
Malaxos says:
Was closely monitored by the Royals’ midfield and had a tough time shaking the close tags.

Marcus Drum (Perth) Possessions: 7 kicks, 5 handpasses, 1 mark
Malaxos says:
Continues to impress through the Demons midfield and across half back. Spent most of the last quarter on the bench after receiving a slight knock but was moving well before coming off the field. He will be available this week.

Robbie Haddrill (Perth) Possessions: 7 kicks, 8 handpasses, 6 marks
Malaxos says:
Robbie had one of his best games for a few weeks against East Perth. He had an interesting battle with full forward Andrew Merrington and put in a solid defensive performance on the Royals’ leading goal kicker.

Clayton Collard (South Fremantle)
Malaxos says:
Had an improved effort in the South Fremantle Reserves. Played well across the middle and up forward and should be back in the league side shortly.

Calib Mourish (East Fremantle)
Malaxos says:
Calib was in East Fremantle’s bests in their reserves side at the weekend and is awaiting an opportunity for a league recall.

Ryley Dudd (East Fremantle)
Malaxos says:
Ryley had his first game back for a number of weeks and performed well in East Fremantle’s reserves side.
