On the rise: Josh Green
At a glance: Snared by the Lions with pick 32 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, Green arrived at the club with great credentials, having captained Tasmania in the national under-18 championships. He made his debut against North Melbourne in round nine of the 2011 season, gathering 12 touches in what was the Lions' first win of the year. Green improved further in 2012, playing 12 games and kicking 15 goals. Despite making his name so far as a small forward, he hopes to move into the midfield in coming seasons. Green signed a new two-year contract with the Lions in August.
Plays like: Three-time Brisbane Lions premiership player Luke Power (Green also wears Power's old No. 6 jumper).
Killer quality: Green's blistering pace, safe hands and ability to win contested possessions are the key parts of his game. He is also an accurate kick for goal.
Best performance: When the Lions beat West Coast at the Gabba in round 10 - one of the biggest upsets of 2012 - Green played a pivotal role. Having shed the sub's vest at three-quarter time, he kicked three crucial goals in the final quarter as the Lions came back from 21 points down and snatched a two-point win.
What they say: "Green has shown us he is going to be a player of the future. He is really, really clean, good in traffic and has good skills." – Brisbane Lions football manager Dean Warren
