With Todd Goldstein to be rested for the match against Greater Western Sydney in Lavington this Saturday night, it could be the first time Daw has started a game for North after only having experienced the opening bounce from the sidelines during his past three hit-outs.
Daw will have a raft of young midfielders at his feet and will be looking to further develop his game with a slim chance of a rookie elevation given Hamish McIntosh’s latest injury news.
It will also be a test of Daw’s endurance with the 19 year-old the only ruckman named in the 26-man squad. However support will be there if he needs it with Lachie Hansen and Cam Pedersen big enough to hold their own in the contest.
Daw has been particularly impressive during the NAB Cup and Challenge matches and has even taken coach Brad Scott by surprise.
"He's got the athletic attributes, that's for sure," Scott said recently.
"He's a touch short for a ruckman but his leap more than makes up for that.”
