Chris Newman has been reappointed Richmond’s captain for the 2012 season, with Trent Cotchin to be his deputy.

The Tigers made the announcement at their overseas pre-season training camp in Phoenix, Arizona (USA).

Newman, 29, and a veteran of 192 league games, enters his fourth year as the Club’s captain, having been appointed to the position in 2009.

Cotchin, the 2011 Jack Dyer Medallist, officially takes over as vice-captain after filling in for the injured Newman as skipper in the Tigers’ final five games of the season.

The 21-year-old has played 64 AFL games since making his debut with Richmond in 2008.
