The Bulldogs have been in partnership with Mission Foods since January 2009 and will now be linked to the company for another three years at least with an additional two-year option available.
The extension makes the relationship between the two parties not only the longest major partnership in the club's history, but also its largest financially.
Mission chief executive Juan Gonzalez approached Bulldogs president David Smorgon last week about extending their sponsorship agreement, and the deal was brokered within seven days.
Smorgon said the deal was confirmation that the club was on the right track for a successful future and placed the club in an "enviable position to underpin the financial viability of the club"- a key driver in the Bulldogs' five-year vision.
"For the Western Bulldogs, this announcement of the deal, which is a three-year deal with a two-year option, it is a record sponsorship deal for our club," Smorgon said on Tuesday at the Whitten oval.
"It achieves one of the first objectives in our five-year business plan to do a number of things to make sure we continue our growth and continue the development of our footy club.
"To have a partner that is so supportive, as Mission Foods are, this is a renewal of their confidence in us and to bring this agreement forward by one-year is a tremendous pat on the back for us."
While the partnership extension will set the Bulldogs in good stead for the future, the club still remains $5 million in debt and Smorgon said the funds from the Mission deal would not go towards eradicating the debt.
In a move similar to that off Melbourne's Jim Stynes-inspired Debt Demolition, the Bulldogs will use its Komatsu Bulldoze the Debt campaign to bring the club back in the black.
"The debt is a separate issue and as announced last October, we have the Komatsu Bulldoze the Debt campaign which you will be hearing more about, but this [partnership extension] is about operating revenue.
"The debt is a separate issue."
Smorgon also called upon all Bulldogs fans to follow Missions' lead and commit to the club in 2011.
"Mission have now made a commitment over a long period of time to the Western Bulldogs football club and we're asking you, the unsigned members, to make your commitment to this club."
