Port Adelaide has joined Variety, the children’s charity, and even teamed up with the Crows but for a very good cause.

The Power is helping raise funds for children in need in South Australia as part of ‘Kick in 4 Kids’, which was launched on Thursday in Rundle Mall.

Power captain Warren Tredrea, with Andrew McLeod, is the ambassador of ‘Kick in 4 Kids’ and he was at the big launch that attracted a large crowd of on-lookers.

That was partly due to the ‘dunking machine’ that was set-up giving people the chance to dunk the likes of Michelangelo Rucci and fellow journalists Corey Wingard, Corey Norris and Mark Soderstrom.

Sending them into a pool of water on an Adelaide winter’s day seemed to appeal to Tredders who had to hit a target the size of a small dinner plate with a football from about 10m away. Tredders dunked Wingard and then called him back up to have another crack at him. Once again Tredders hit the target to the delight of the crowd!

But the day was about a lot more important things than that.

‘Kick in 4 Kids’ will culminate in a ‘Radiothon’ over the airways of FIVEaa on Friday 3 August and Saturday 4 August which coincides with Showdown 23. The club will be asking all South Australians to ‘kick in’ for SA’s children by donating online at www.kickin4kids.com.au or by phoning the hotline 13 25 10 during the radiothon, which is presented by Yellow Corporation. Money raised will go towards kids’ freedom and mobility programs.

Kick in 4 Kids Child Ambassadors, four year-old Daniel, a spina bifida sufferer and seven year-old Lilly, who requires regular upgrades for her prosthetic arm, were also at the launch.
