Former Collingwood head coach Mick Malthouse made an emotional final speech at Friday night's Copeland Trophy night at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne.

In front of 1800 supporters, players, officials and family members, Malthouse was welcomed on stage by president Eddie McGuire.

With wife Nanette fittingly by his side, Malthouse confirmed that he was not interested in coaching at any other club in the AFL because he, "couldn't possibly coach against the boys that I've been with, some for 12 years."

Malthouse went on to wish incoming senior coach Nathan Buckley all the best in the new role.

He recapped the season and spoke of the heartache that was felt after the grand final loss to Geelong.

Mick and Nanette left the stage with a standing ovation from the black and white crowd.
