Scott McMahon says he’s approaching today’s ‘Lorne Pier to Pub’ swim with enthusiasm unlike in previous years.

“I’ve done it a few times but this time around I’m really looking forward to it,” the defender told kangaroos.com.au.

The annual race is in its 31st year and is the largest open water swim in the world.

The course is 1.2 kilometres long and begins at the Lorne Pier with the finish on the foreshore in front of the Lorne Surf Life Saving clubhouse.

McMahon will be joined by fellow North Melbourne players Levi Greenwood, Jack Ziebell, Liam Anthony, Ben Warren and Daniel Pratt.

“I’m sure it will get a bit competitive between the six of us but I’m ready and prepared for whatever they throw at me,” McMahon added.

“I reckon I could dog-paddle faster than most of them anyway.”

More than 4000 swimmers have competed in the race in previous years and this year’s event promises to be just as big.
