BACKS

Darren Milburn (Geelong) – Milburn has been in outstanding form in recent weeks, but his performance against the Western Bulldogs, where he racked up 32 disposals, including a whopping 19 touches in the first term, was his best effort for the season.

Matthew Scarlett (Geelong) – Like Milburn, Scarlett's form over the past two rounds in particular, has been nothing short of first-class. Against the Dogs, the game's best full-back won 32 disposals, including 24 touches by half-time.

Max Hudghton (St Kilda) – Instrumental in St Kilda's stunning comeback win, Hudghton quelled boom Hawk Lance Franklin to just three touches after the main break, after being shifted onto him early in the match.

HALF BACKS

Corey Enright (Geelong) – Another Cat in red-hot form. On the back of 36 disposals (round 14) and 37 possessions (round 15), Enright still won the ball 24 times against the Dogs, but kept the dynamic Jason Akermanis goalless and to just 11 touches.

Michael Firrito (North Melbourne) – One of the highlights in the Roos' win over Collingwood, was the performance of Firrito. He took the honours over key forward Travis Cloke, who didn't register a score and was held to just nine touches.

Daniel Pratt (North Melbourne) – Another integral figure in his team's victory, Pratt battled some knocks and a leg problem early on, before finishing as one of the Roos' best in a warrior-like showing, with 24 disposals and four tackles against Collingwood.

CENTRES

Bradd Dalziell (Brisbane Lions) – The 21-year-old produced one of the great debuts of recent years, with a 32-disposal display against West Coast. Coach Leigh Matthews said of Dalziell: "In your wildest dreams, you wouldn't have thought he would be able to do that."

Simon Black (Brisbane Lions) – Continued his super consistent season and was the Lions' best with 27 disposals, including a game-high 18 contested possessions. Again, his clearance work (14) was excellent, while he also laid five tackles and won six frees.

Nick Dal Santo (St Kilda) – Simply outstanding in the second half and was a key match-turner for the Saints, claiming 13 of his 32 touches in the third quarter. Dal Santo also finished with six inside 50s and two goals in his best performance for the season.

HALF-FORWARDS

Ryan O'Keefe (Sydney Swans) – Statistically, he produced one of the great individual games of the round, but his ability to play on with an ankle injury only added to his efforts. O'Keefe finished with three goals, 29 touches, 12 inside 50s and six tackles.

Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda) – Can lay claims to being the most in-form player in the AFL, over the past month, having now been arguably best-on-ground in four matches. The skipper turned on a brilliant match-winning display against Hawthorn with six goals.

Danyle Pearce (Port Adelaide) – Won the Showdown Medal for his outstanding match against Adelaide, booting three goals and claiming 24 disposals. His ability to win the contested ball and also create space was a highlight of his game, as were his six tackles.

FORWARDS

Nathan Brown (Richmond) – Continued his fine form, with three goals and 26 disposals against Essendon, on the back of his four majors (his best haul since breaking his leg in 2005) in round 15. He has now had 15 scoring shots from his past three outings.

Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) – Now has 63 goals for the season – and is third on the goalkicking table – after booting five majors in a best-on-ground display against Melbourne. He also finished with 28 touches and seven inside 50s in a brilliant display.

Jason Blake (St Kilda) – The unsung Saint started down back, then produced a stunning third quarter when he shifted in the ruck and pushed forward. He booted three goals for the match – all in his outstanding third term – and was a major reason for St Kilda's win.

FOLLOWERS

Drew Petrie (North Melbourne) – Played one of his greatest games for the club, with an inspiring best-on-ground display against Collingwood. The big-man won the Jason McCartney Medal for his 20 touches, 11 marks, 26 hit outs and two goals in the ruck.

Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) – He may have played on a losing side, but Gibbs' ability to shut-down dual Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes was one of the performances of the round. Not only did Gibbs hold Goodes to just seven touches, he claimed 26 disposals himself.

Nathan Foley (Richmond) – On the back of his excellent showing against West Coast, Foley backed up with another first-class game, winning a game-high 31 disposals to help his side to a four-point win over Essendon. His eight clearances were a feature.

INTERCHANGE

Dean Cox (West Coast) – Despite featuring in a side that lost to the Brisbane Lions by 46 points, Cox could lay claims to being best-on-ground, such was his individual dominance. The ruckman had 36 disposals, 27 hit outs, 11 marks and eight clearances.

Brent Harvey (North Melbourne) – The dashing midfielder/forward was one of the igniters in his side's outstanding win over Collingwood. 'Boomer' claimed 27 disposals, sent the ball inside 50 on nine occasions and had a hand in four scoring assists.

Byron Schammer (Fremantle) – Played his best match for the season and one of his finest for the club, in his side's win over Melbourne. His influence in the midfield was telling as he collected 27 touches, had five clearances and laid six tackles.

Brent Stanton (Essendon) – Has been in sterling form during the past two rounds and although the Dons went down to the Tigers, the efforts of Stanton could not be questioned. He gained 27 disposals, 12 marks and kicked two goals in a fine display.
