MELBOURNEfc has successfully appealed against the severity of the fine handed out after its runner Rodney Ryan interfered with play in the round four match against Fremantle at the MCG.

After Melbourne lodged a submission regarding the original $7500 sanction, Anderson said the AFL had taken the club's views into account and reduced the fine to $5000, with $2500 suspended in the event of any further breach in the next three years.
