MELBOURNE coach Dean Bailey concedes versatile Demon Brad Green experienced a "tumultuous week" before signing a new three-year deal just before last Friday's exchange period deadline.
The Sydney Swans, Collingwood and Hawthorn all had interest in luring the Melbourne leader, but the Tasmanian committed to the Demons until at least the end of 2011.
"We're really pleased that Brad's decided to sign and stick with us for three years. His year was very good. He was pretty consistent for us," Bailey said.
"His commitment to Melbourne is fantastic. We think he's going to be a good leader for us again."
Bailey said the club's relationship with Green was not an issue.
"With Michael Quinlan, Brad's manager, and Brad and 'Connolls' [football operations general manager Chris Connolly] and myself, the integrity and the dignity you've got to be able to handle yourself in is very important, especially for a player like Brad."
"He had a tough week, but he's a Melbourne player, so we're really happy with that.
"We don't have any hangover from the week at all, you've just got to get on with it.
"We're really excited to be back and he's really keen to make a bigger impact next year, as he did this year."
Meanwhile, Bailey said no decision had been made on the club's No.1 draft pick.
"We haven't made up our mind yet. It's going to be one of the three that we've mentioned before [Nick Naitanui, Daniel Rich or Jack Watts]," he said.
"They're so different all three of them. We interviewed them up in Canberra and they were all very impressive.
"I don't think we're going to miss. We'll pick one of them and we're going to get a very good player, but pick two and three are going to get a very good player as well."
