Sunday 22 June will proudly mark the 17th year of the Mater Foundation’s 5ks for Kids walk. The five kilometre walk will begin at South Bank where activities will start from 9am with registrations and live entertainment kicking off the day.

The five kilometre walk will commence at 10am and more than 4,000 enthusiastic participants are expected to participate in order to raise funds for the Mater. The participants will stride along the river past Kurilpa Point to Davies Park and then back to South Bank. The day has been proudly sponsored by Australia Post and Postman Pete will be there throughout the walk.

Nigel Harris said “5ks for Kids is always a great family day out with live entertainment, activities for the kids and of course a 5km walk.”

This year 5ks for Kids are set to be held throughout regional Queensland and Northern NSW where the support at the various locations will provide community spirit and raise much needed funds for vital hospital equipment while also spreading the Mater word.

Each year, more than 15,000 children are cared for as inpatients, more than 120,000 children are seen in the outpatients department at the Mater Childrens Hospital, and 32,000 receive care in the Emergency Department which demonstrates the need for community support in fundraisers such as 5ks for Kids.
