MORE than 200cm tall, West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui towers above most.

But the freakish athlete, with the help of teammate Jack Darling and Carlton Irishman Zach Tuohy, soared to new heights on Sunday when he took a spectacular mark that has already been dubbed mark of the year.

Eagle Mark Nicoski was sitting on the bench when Naitanui launched himself at the ball and is continually surprised by his athleticism.

"He could probably see the whales in Port Phillip bay from where he was," Nicoski laughed.

"I'm sure Jack will cop it during the week for being a step ladder."

Naitanui's magnificent hanger has prompted the team at afl.com.au to trawl through the archives and dig up some of the great marks of the past decade.

Over the years fans have been treated to some awesome displays of aerial theatrics, from the likes of Melbourne's Liam Jurrah, Essendon great Matthew Lloyd and former Eagle Ashley Sampi.
