The Brisbane Lions AFC are pleased to announce the appointments of Mick Power AM and Cameron Milner to the Club's Board of Directors.

Power and Milner will step onto the Club's Board following the recent departures of former Chairman Tony Kelly and retired Director David Liddy.

Mick Power is one of Australia's leading businessmen with more than 40 years of experience in civil engineering, project management, construction and property investment.

He founded the BMD Group in 1979 and has since grown it into the largest private civil construction and development group in the country.

In addition to his incredible business achievements, Power has been heavily involved as an active Board Member of other notable organisations including the Southbank Corporation, Greg Norman Golf Foundation, The Mater Children's Hospital Research Appeal & Leadership Gifts, Queensland Surf Lifesaving Foundation, Northcliffe Foundation and is an Honorary Ambassador for the City of Brisbane.

He has also long been associated with the Lions both as a Club member since 2001 and as part of the exclusive Lethal Lions coterie group since 2003.

Power has been appointed to the Board as a casual vacancy member-based appointee.

Cameron Milner is the Director of Milner Strategic Services which is an advisory firm with a range of both Queensland and national clients - mainly in the mining, engineering and energy sectors - including Rio Tinto, Ausenco, Visy and Hancock Prospecting.

He was formerly the State Secretary of the Labour Party in Queensland where he was the campaign director for Premier Peter Beattie in 2001 and 2004.

He currently serves as a Director of Labor Holdings and Brisbane-based communications company Communicator 1.

Milner brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in dealing with legislation and regulation at all levels of government and will assist the Lions Board in a number of these areas.

Lions Chairman Angus Johnson believes both Power and Milner are outstanding additions to the existing Brisbane Lions Board.

"It's a real coup for our Club to appoint two individuals who are both highly qualified and highly regarded within the Queensland and Australian business community," Mr Johnson said.

"Their involvement will undoubtedly 'freshen up' the Board and ensure the Club enjoys the benefits from new and different perspectives."

"Their appointments come at an appropriate time with the Club also currently undergoing an extensive review process to improve performance."

"We are thrilled to have Mick and Cameron step up, and on behalf of all members I welcome them to the Lions Board. We look forward to their contribution as the Club prepares for the 2011 AFL Season and beyond."
