ST KILDA is unlikely to take Adelaide lightly this Friday night despite the two teams going into the clash with contrasting form lines.
The Saints have won six of their past eight games while the Crows have lost seven games in the same time span.
But St Kilda assistant coach Robert Harvey says the memory of the round six loss at AAMI Stadium was still fresh in the Saints' minds.
"We went over there early in the year and didn't come home with four points. We know how they can play and they've got a dangerous forward structure and midfield," Harvey said.
"We are going to have our work cut out this week. We feel like we're building but we know that at their best, they are really dangerous and we have seen that first hand in round six. We have got to be at our top this week."
St Kilda defeated West Coast by 21 points last Saturday night in what was their first win over a top-five team this season.
Harvey said the win over the Eagles was close to the team's best performance of the season but that there was still plenty of room for improvement.
"It's probably up there. We haven't played consistently well all year and even on the weekend it still wasn't a consistent performance and that is something we are striving towards," he said.
"The second and third quarters we had a bit of a down patch and that's what we've got to work on. Against an opposition like West Coast, whose pressure is red hot, they have been like that all year and to start the way we did was a real positive."
St Kilda will have to make at least one change to the line-up after defender James Gwilt ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee on Saturday night.
Harvey said there were several contenders to fill the hole left by Gwilt.
"It's early in the week and it’s a big loss. It's hard to replace Jimmy, who has been in good form for us for a long time. There are a few guys. Tom Simpkin has played a few games, Tommy Walsh has been in pretty good form as a backman and Jason Blake is back from his knee injury as well," he said.
"They are sticking their hands up for selection and it’s a good sign that there's a bit of depth around the team, which is a positive thing."
