MORE Power fans will have the opportunity to have a beer in their seats at AAMI Stadium next year.

Following a successful trial this year, the Port Adelaide Football Club and the SANFL have extended the areas that alcohol will be permitted in 2009, including moving into the traditional ‘outer’ for the first time.

Twelve more bays have become ‘beer-friendly’, on top of last year’s eight. The extensions apply only to Power home games.

Supporters sitting in bays 115 – 118 at the northern end, and 136 – 139 at the southern end will be now be able to have a drink in their seat if they wish.

Bays 101 – 104 at the southern end of the Members’ section have also been added.

The Northern Stand and bays 111 – 114 will continue to be alcohol-permitted.

Power chief executive Mark Haysman said the extension of drinking in seats was a positive move forward for the stadium and Power fans.

“Our supporters have been saying for many years they’d like to have the option of having a beer in their seat at AAMI Stadium,” Haysman said.

“We thank the SANFL for working with the club to extend that option to more of our supporters in 2009.

“We received positive feedback from the introduction of alcohol-permitted areas in 2008 and the club will continue to listen to its supporters with this extension in 2009.”

2008 Power Game-Day Members will be advised in writing of the changes.

The regulations regarding drink limits and the use of lids when carrying alcohol will continue.
