SUPER Blue Chris Judd has made his charge up the leaderboard of the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award with a 10-vote performance in Carlton's come-from-behind win over Fremantle at Subiaco Oval.

It takes him to within four votes of long-time leader Gary Ablett, who failed to poll a vote despite 27 disposals, eight tackles and two goals in the Cats' loss to St Kilda on Sunday.

Other players on the leaderboard polled votes in that epic match but none was able to make much ground on the top two.

Collingwood's hottest player Alan Didak grabbed another nine votes, as did Josh Fraser in the Pies big win over Essendon on Friday night.

The next day at the MCG, Melbourne defender Jack Grimes polled the maximum 10 for the Dees in their emotional victory over West Coast.

Troy Chaplin got the top votes for his sterling effort in defence for the Power against the Lions, while Kurt Tippett did likewise at the other end of the field in the Crows win over Richmond.

Bulldog Matthew Boyd and Sydney Swan Ryan O'Keefe rounded out the big vote winners from round 14.

In the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year, coaches vote each week on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis. Coaches vote only on their own matches, but may vote for players on the opposing team.

Past winners of the prestigious award include Ablett (2007-08), Simon Goodwin and Adam Goodes (joint winners in 2006), Barry Hall (2005) and Warren Tredrea (2004).
