Adelaide assistant coach Paul Hamilton has accepted an administration role with the Essendon Football Club.

Hamilton, who has been with the Crows for four years, was this afternoon confirmed as the new football operations manager at the club where he started his VFL/AFL career more than 20 years ago.

Crows chief executive officer Steven Trigg congratulated Hamilton on his new role: “We are very disappointed to lose Paul but this is a great opportunity for him and we wish him well.”

Hamilton played 105 games for Essendon from 1986-92. He then played with Glenelg in the SANFL for three years before moving to Tasmania to coach Glenorchy for four seasons.

He returned to South Australia in 2000 to coach SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens for one season and then spent four years as an assistant coach with the Kangaroos before joining Adelaide’s coaching panel at the end of 2004.

Hamilton said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time with Adelaide and appreciated the opportunity to work with Neil Craig and the rest of the coaches.”
