WRFL Chief Executive Officer John Batty is pleased to announce the appointment of David Newton to the role of Football Operations Manager.John said “The interview panel was very impressed with the manner in which he presented himself and believes that he will be an asset to the WRFL. He is very well respected in the football industry and is seen as a potential leader.”David has completed an AFL Sports Ready Traineeship and has a Certificate in Sports Administration. He is currently an Administration Officer, Football Operations at Football Victoria, and is responsible for many of the operational aspects of the Victorian Football League (VFL) competition. David has been in this role for more than two years.Prior to his current Football Victoria position, David worked with the Calder Cannons as an Administration Officer and spent some time as the Acting Development Manager. This has given him extensive experience in football administration at both VFL and TAC Cup level.David is 26 years of age and has long association with football at the community level, both as a player and volunteer administrator. His experience within the football industry over the past eight years has enabled him to build an extensive network and he is very familiar with the programs and support that Football Victoria can offer the WRFL.John Batty said “I am sure that everyone at the WRFL joins with me in congratulating David on his appointment and wishes him every success in his new role.”
