Jen Phelan looks at how all 22 Carlton players contributed to the win
Dennis Armfield - 3
Played on Chris Newman at times, Brandon Ellis at others. Was one of five Blues who touched the ball once in the opening quarter, fared slightly better in the second, but it wasn't a prolific afternoon for him with just nine disposals for the day.
Tom Bell - 4
Had 17 touches for the game – seven in the second quarter – and wasn't really noticeable, although he had a couple of moments in the fourth quarter, including a strong mark in the pocket at the seven-minute mark before he took another shot at goal four minutes later from the other side. With three clearances, three inside 50s and two rebounds, Bell was serviceable.
Eddie Betts - 7
Gave Steven Morris a headache for most of the afternoon. Took an excellent mark against the Richmond defender five minutes into the fourth quarter and goaled to cut the margin to three points. Ended with three goals, two behinds and one scoring assist. Was the most influential of the small forwards.
Ed Curnow - 7
Hoped to nullify Trent Cotchin as he did in round 21 when he kept the Tigers' skipper to 14 touches. Didn't quite get there, although he did keep him quieter than usual in the first half, despite the Tigers' midfielder sneaking forward to good effect. Cotchin had 26 – but Curnow's 17 disposals, 10 tackles and five clearances showed he did more than just a run-with role.
Nick Duigan - 8
Was an unexpected late call-up for Brock McLean, who was pulled out shortly before the first bounce, and an even more unlikely goal-kicker. Entered the game on three games for the season with a career-high bag of three goals. Left it with four goals for the day, including the match-winner with six minutes left that put the Blues out to an unbeatable 16-point lead.
Jeff Garlett - 4
Kicked a terrific goal nine minutes into the third quarter but didn't celebrate as much as he did when he booted his other with just over a minute remaining in the game. Alex Rance handballed under pressure 50m out from goal and Garlett ran onto it, before he sprinted towards goal and waited until he was almost on the line before he kicked it hard and high.
Bryce Gibbs - 8
Like Chris Judd, had a massive third quarter. Had eight touches – six contested – and four clearances. Finished with a game-high 27 touches and a whopping 12 clearances. An excellent midfield performance.
Lachie Henderson - 6
Started back and played on Ty Vickery, who kicked four goals last week. Was another defender who played his role well after half-time and stood out when he took a terrific contested mark in the fourth quarter with four minutes left.
Michael Jamison - 6
Played on Jack Riewoldt and did an excellent job. The Tigers' forward pushed up the ground away from Aaron Edwards and Vickery but his usual effectiveness was nullified, despite six marks. Played his role well.
Chris Judd - 9
A match-winning performance from the former captain. Looked lame early after starting on the bench with his left knee heavily strapped. Had nine touches to half-time but his third quarter was something else, producing 11 touches and four inside-50s to get his side going. Judd then kicked a goal at the 13-minute mark of the last quarter to give the Blues a 10-point lead.
Matthew Kreuzer - 6
It looked at though the ruckman's afternoon was over in the first quarter when he went off with a right foot complaint. Returned in the second and appeared severely hampered, and it looked as though he would spend the rest of the game in the forward line if he managed to stay on. He played the game out, although had a facial cut sealed in the fourth, and wasn't the best big man on the field but gave Warnock a reliable chop-out in the ruck stakes with 22 hit-outs.
Andrew McInnes - 3
Was a late inclusion for Levi Casboult and was subbed off in the final term for Troy Menzel. Played on Aaron Edwards early on, who started off presenting well, and looked to have hurt himself when he cannoned his head into the solid Tiger's shoulder in the first. Also gave away a clumsy 50m penalty for encroaching on Riewoldt's mark before half time. Didn't really stand out.
Troy Menzel - 2
Donned the green vest and received the call-up in the fourth quarter, which was a decided advantage for the Blues given the Tigers were forced to play their substitute in the first quarter for the injured Reece Conca. Only had the two touches and didn't make an impact.
Marc Murphy - 9
A terrific game from the captain. Stood up in the first half when the Tigers were pushing out to their half-time lead of 26 points. Kept things going after the break to end with 26 disposals, seven clearances and three scoring assists.
Mitch Robinson - 6
It was a game of high emotion for Robinson. Looked done in the first quarter after appearing to suffer a leg injury before quarter time. He recovered, returned, and stood up in the fourth with 10 possessions and the goal that gave the Blues the lead for the first time since the opening term, eight minutes into the quarter. Had a brain fade when he punched the ball through the Blues' defensive goal from a ruck contest, giving away a major to Ivan Maric three minutes into the last quarter term, but he made up for it.
Heath Scotland - 5
The veteran entered under an injury cloud but did enough to convince the coaches of his fitness on Saturday at training. Didn't have a hugely influential game and started very slowly with one touch in the first quarter but found himself in the right place at the right time when he snapped a goal in the third - the Blues' fourth in a row. Had 15 touches and was unobtrusive.
Kade Simpson - 5
Didn't have much involvement in the first half as he played on Ricky Petterd and was dragged back to the Tigers' goal square. Stepped up in the third after six first-half touches and ended with 18 after providing the Blues with much needed run through the middle as they staged their comeback.
Zac Tuohy - 4
Had a good start but faded in the third when so many of the senior Blues stood up. Had a pretty quiet second half but won an important contest against Dustin Martin on the edge of the Tigers' attacking arc in the final term.
Jarrad Waite - 8
An excellent game for the forward. Alex Rance ran off him early in the game to be influential but Waite worked his way back into it to equal Duigan as the most significant forward on the field with four goals. Looked sore late in the game when he jogged off after his fourth but could have just been exhausted. Pulled down six marks and laid six tackles as well.
Andrew Walker - 5
Started on Jake King and spent time on Aaron Edwards before half-time, and handed off free kicks to both including a 50m penalty against King that resulted in a Richmond goal. But gave the Blues good run out of defence, especially in the third quarter.
Robbie Warnock - 7
The most influential big man with 31 hit-outs, including 15 in the centre. Also kicked the first goal of the game, from a ruck stoppage deep in the Blues' attacking half. Showed his talent when it comes to tap work and carried the load when Kreuzer was limited. Ivan Maric had a great last quarter but Warnock had his measure for the most part.
Chris Yarran - 3
Played on Shane Edwards early in the game and didn't have a great deal of influence with only eight touches for the afternoon. Laid three tackles and took the ball inside 50 three times but was quiet overall.
