The 24-year-old, who has played 103 games, held talks with Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs during trade week but those clubs were unable to work out a suitable deal with the Blues.
"The only way that Andrew was going to go was if Andrew could get to a location he wanted to be at," Walker's mananger Tom Petroro told afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio.
"It wasn't an issue that Andrew had to leave, so he is really happy to stay.
"Since the potential trade deals were called off, Walker has spoken to Carlton coach Brett Ratten and his management is confident the two can enjoy a good working relationship in the future.
"Brett assures me that the opportunities are going to be there for Andrew, so it's pretty exciting," Petroro said.
"Brett's aware of what area he needs to help Andrew with and Andrew's aware also of what he needs to work on.
"I think that both parties will be fine and will hopefully work through a really successful career at the Carlton footy club for Andrew.
"Walker is expected to spend more time playing up forward next season than in the past.
"But given he has only one year remaining on his contract with Carlton, he could be a target for the new Greater Western Sydney team in 12 months' time."
