The AFL today released the schedule of MCG and Etihad Stadium matches that will host post-match kick-to-kick across the 2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
The AFL has worked with both Melbourne venues to ensure fans are able to gain on-ground access after a number of Sunday Premiership Season matches to enjoy kick-to-kick with family and friends.
Footy fans will be allowed on the hallowed MCG turf at every Sunday game throughout the season, except for two matches in July, while Etihad Stadium will allow fans on the ground for kick-to-kick at every Sunday game during April and May.
The first opportunity will be available at the Opening Round match between St Kilda and Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium on Sunday April 5.
The full schedule of matches can be seen below.
The kick-to-kick initiative forms part of the broader ‘Sunday Funday’ theme running across the season, including free kids entry to all Sunday Premiership Season matches at the MCG and Etihad Stadium, a range of special food and beverage products and offers and other entertainment activities at various matches.
AFL General Manager Clubs and AFL Operations, Travis Auld, said enhancing the match day experience for fans has been a priority for the AFL since the conclusion of last season.
“The AFL has been working on a range of initiatives with clubs and venues to make AFL matches more accessible, more affordable and more fun for supporters in 2015,” Mr Auld said.
“The fans have told us that the tradition of having a kick on the ground after a match remains very popular and as such we have placed a high priority on working with both Etihad Stadium and the MCG to see this activity return in 2015.
“We thank both venues for their commitment in making this ambition a reality, particularly given the operational challenges inherent in allowing attendees on the playing surface post-match. The venues are to be congratulated for putting the fans first, not only through the return of kick-to-kick but also through their recent efforts to lower the cost of food and beverages at AFL matches.”
