THE LEAGUE'S new games record-holder, Brent Harvey, might have ended up goalless in his landmark 427th match if not for a fulfilled promise from teammate Lindsay Thomas.
Harvey collected 24 disposals in his side's 23-point win against St Kilda on Saturday night but after he hit the post with a set shot in the final term, it seemed the second-highest goalkicker in North Melbourne's history (with 512, behind only Wayne Carey) would finish without a major.
However, Thomas took a strong mark later on and handballed to the 38-year-old, who made no mistake from close range.
"I was lucky Lindsay gave me a little goal at the end," Harvey said after the game.
"He marked one in the goalsquare and I was going over to him to give him a little pat on the backside after he marked it, and he said 'Do you want this?'.
"I sort of looked around and I thought 'Yep', and I got a little cheap one.
"That's the kind of guy Lindsay is. He said to me during the week 'I'm going to get you a goal' and he certainly did that."
Having surpassed Hawk Michael Tuck's previous record of 426 games, Harvey said his own final tally wasn't of concern to him.
"I've got no idea. I'll be on 428 next week and that's all that matters, because we've got another huge game," he said.
"I know it's a cliché to you guys (media), but for us, we've got our 12 wins now, and that was the objective at the start of the year."

The celebrations were in full swing for Harvey's family and friends on Saturday night, but the man himself will display his renowned professionalism with a clash against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium in the offing in seven days.
"I might have one (beer), with my dad and my brother," he said.
"This week has been a big celebration … but for me, it's to celebrate everybody else helping me along the way.
How the fans saw it: Boomer's big night
"I just spoke to our boys to say thank you, and not only to the current playing list, but the old guys that I used to play with, my family, my friends, all the supporters, everybody, it was literally for them tonight, because without them, you don't get here.
"They will certainly come in and help me celebrate and we'll have a few quiet laughs."
