PORT Adelaide captain Travis Boak will miss Saturday's JLT Community Series clash with Adelaide, but isn't expected to be in doubt for the season-opener with Fremantle.
Boak reported minor hamstring soreness and didn't train with the team at Alberton Oval on Friday morning.
"He's got a little bit of tightness in his hamstring, so we're not going to take any risks in a JLT game," Power assistant coach Brendon Lade said.
"He's had a great pre-season, done nearly all the work and he's very fit at the moment.
"At this stage, tracking along nicely for round one."
Vice-captain Ollie Wines will lead the Power in Boak's absence.
Jake Neade, initially named as an emergency, will come into the side to replace Boak, with the Power naming three emergencies (Jack Hombsch, Jack Trengove and Lindsay Thomas) only.
Forward Jack Watts completed the training session after leaving Thursday night's season launch early with a migraine.
Winger Jared Polec only walked laps, but will play some game time against the Crows in his first game back from a hamstring injury.
Polec trained fully on Thursday, and it's not uncommon for him not to train two days in a row.
The Power will manage Polec's game time along with a few other players as they rotate through their 26-player squad.
"The good thing about JLT is you get to have eight on the bench, so we'll keep two or three (players) over and they'll play a certain amount of minutes and come out of the game and these guys will come in," Lade said.
"We're very confident they'll get through those well."
Lade said the Power's rejigged forward line remained a work in progress after kicking only eight goals in their first JLT game against West Coast a fortnight ago.
"We're still getting together as a group and gelling, working out how each other plays," he said.
"Charlie (Dixon) was pretty good again last week, and Robbie (Gray) was a bit quieter than he has been in the past, but you throw Watts into that mix, (Steven) Motlop, Aidyn Johnson hasn't played much footy, so we throw some new players in, Todd Marshall plays this week as well, so it's great for the club to get all those guys playing.
"Our challenge as coaches is to get them playing well together."
