BRISBANE Lions Elliot Yeo looks set to get his wish of a return home to Western Australia after the defender's recent talks with West Coast. 

 

Yeo's manager, Colin Young of Corporate Sports Australia, told AFL.com.au he expected the Eagles to contact the Lions shortly to discuss a possible trade.

 

Young said Yeo's desire to move had nothing to do with the Lions' coaching team and was motivated purely by his desire to be closer to family and friends.

 

Lance Franklin's decision to pursue what is shaping as an extraordinary long-term deal with the Sydney Swans dominated trade discussions on Tuesday.   

 

But while the star goalkicker was finalising his move north, Jesse White's exit from the Harbour City gathered pace.  

White met with Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley on Monday and walked away to consider his options, with the Magpies now seen as favourites to secure the tall forward.

Fremantle expressed its interest in White before the end of the season but are no longer considered in the running, with non-Victorian clubs not on his radar.

 

Essendon's Scott Gumbleton is seen as the most obvious target for the Dockers as they search for another key forward.

 

As it emerged that unrestricted free agent Matt White would seek a move from Richmond to Port Adelaide, Tiger Luke McGuane's future was unclear.

 

It is believed McGuane wants to remain a Tiger but is yet to be offered a new deal with both parties content to wait and see what transpires in the next month.

 

Goalkicker Aaron Edwards is also out of contract, with the Tigers seemingly in no hurry to re-sign the 29-year-old.

 

Meanwhile, Heath Shaw is now "more likely" to leave Collingwood than stay, according to his manager Ben Niall.

 

Niall said the 27-year-old was open to all opportunities, including non-Victorian clubs, and could play for another five seasons. 

 

Movement among assistant coaches appears to be in a holding pattern for now as rival clubs wait on West Coast to appoint a senior coach and Melbourne to appoint an eventual successor to Paul Roos.

 

Adam Simpson and Scott Burns, who remain in the race for the Eagles job, would automatically become the most in-demand assistants should they fail to land senior positions.
