SYDNEY SWANS youngster Tom Mitchell has been singled out for praise by coach John Longmire for his pre-season work, while Brandon Jack looks set to add to his 17 senior games this season after also impressing the coach.

"It's the first time since [Tom] has been at the club that he's had a full pre-season,” Longmire said on Friday during AFL.com.au's #AskTheCoach series.

“It gives him the best chance to hopefully have an injury free season, and his best season on the ground. His best is very good.

"Brandon Jack has had a very good pre-season to start (as well)."

Fans can expect to see star forward Kurt Tippett spend a bit more time in the ruck in 2015, while swingman Sam Reid has been training hard with the Swans' back six.

"We've played Kurt more in the ruck over the pre-season," Longmire said.

"He's a very good ruckman as well has having the ability to push forward and kick goals.

"We've played [Sam] in the majority down back over the pre-season for two reasons. One, to get more experience as a defender if we need him to play in our back six, and two, to learn off players of the calibre of Lance Franklin."

The Swans' other draftees Jack Hiscox and Abe Davis have done well this pre-season but Isaac Heeney’s path has been less smooth due to knee tendinitis.

"Heeney’s playing some more game time now," Longmire said.

The 18-year-old was selected at pick No.18 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft after being pre-selected by the Swans via the academy bidding system.

It is not the first time Heeney has been plagued by knee tendinitis. The same ailment resulted in the midfielder missing last year's draft combine.

The Swans will embark on their Australia Post AFL Community Camp on Monday, visiting schools, hospitals and community events in areas including Wollongong, Bowral, Newcastle and Tamworth.
