THE MELBOURNE Cricket Club has warned that all Yarra Park car parks will be closed on the long weekend due to wet conditions.
The MCC, which manages Yarra Park, said an assessment of conditions found that the majority of the park would risk further damage if used for vehicles over the weekend.
"All patrons, staff, emergency services personnel, accredited AFL media and people with disability permits who are attending events in the MCG sporting precinct this weekend are encouraged to take public transport, or to seek alternative parking in the CBD and surrounding suburbs," an MCG statement said.
The closure will affect Sunday's Richmond v Gold Coast clash as well as Monday's Queen's Birthday match between Melbourne and Collingwood.
"While we understand that the loss of parking near the MCG is inconvenient, we have made this decision as early as possible to ensure fans have time to make other plans to get the footy this weekend," MCC communications manager Shane Brown said.
