EMERGING Greater Western Sydney defender Jeremy Finlayson has signed a new two-year contract to see him committed to the club until the end of 2020.
Finlayson, 22, has played nine games this season.
The silky left-footer shot to prominence with a breakout performance in round two against Collingwood, when his defending and ball use won plaudits in a 16-point win for the Giants at the MCG.
Finlayson graduated from the GWS Academy and was selected with the No.85 selection in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft.
"This is home. I've been here for six years and the club stuck by me in those years," Finlayson told gwsgiants.com.au.
"My manager and I got it done the other day while I was up in Darwin. I didn't think twice about it."
Giants list manager Jason McCartney was impressed with Finlayson's development.
Finlayson didn't play at all in his first two seasons, before breaking through for his debut in last year's round 15 draw with Geelong.
"Jeremy has come a long way since he joined the Giants and we're delighted he's put pen to paper," McCartney told gwsgiants.com.au.
"For a young indigenous kid to move away from home at the age he did to chase his dream can be really difficult and it speaks volumes of our football club that he feels at home here.
"We're all really excited about what Jeremy can produce in the years to come."
