Great Britain v Canada

Great Britain 6.8 (44) def Canada 2.3 (15)

The contest between Great Britain Bulldogs and Canada Northwind was tough early with no easy possessions for either side and limited scoring chances.

The Bulldogs broke the deadlock after nine minutes through a good running goal.

The remainder of the quarter was a tough affair played predominantly between the arcs with the dogs only five points in front.

Early in the second quarter, Atkins (#18) for Great Britain, ran onto a loose ball in the goal square to kick a fanastic goal.

While Canada moved the ball well at times they couldn't penetrate the Bulldogs' defense who stood resolute throughout the quarter.

Harmeston (#8) kicked a great long goal late in the quarter to extend Great Britain's lead by three goals just before half time.

Northwind desperately wanted the first goal of the third quarter but it was the dogs who kicked early to extend their lead to 26 points.

Pineda Willis (#8) stormed into an open goal for Canada but a desperate smother by GB big man Trigg (#4) saved a certain goal.

Great Britain kicked the first goal 30 seconds into the fourth goal and quelled any thought the Canadians had of a final quarter comeback.

Canada kicked their first goal in the 5th minute of the last quarter through Graham (#80), which they followed up with another through MacDonald (1#6) later in the quarter.

However, in the end it was Great Britain who were too strong winning by 31 points.
