The AFL wishes to advise the Match Review Panel has reviewed the first eight matches played so far in round four of the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. The following charges were laid:
Charges Laid:
Mark LeCras, West Coast, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Aliir Aliir, Sydney Swans, during the fourth quarter of the Round Four match between West Coast and the Sydney Swans, played at Domain Stadium on Thursday April 13, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.
Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Sydney Swans Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction.
Toby Greene, GWS Giants, has been charged with striking Dan Houston, Port Adelaide, during the third quarter of the Round Four match between the GWS Giants and Port Adelaide, played at UNSW Oval on Saturday April 15, 2017.

Conor McKenna, Essendon, has been charged with making forceful contact from front-on against Riley Knight, Adelaide Crows, during the fourth quarter of the Round Four match between Essendon and the Adelaide Crows, played at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 15, 2017.
In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the available evidence and a medical report from the Adelaide Crows Football Club, the incident was assessed as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The incident was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a one-match sanction.
Other incidents assessed
Contact between North Melbourne’s Scott Thompson and the Western Bulldogs’ Tom Boyd from the first quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The ball was loose with Thompson and Boyd coming from opposite directions when contact was made. Both players are reaching down for the ball when the pair meet. It was the view of the panel Thompson was contesting the ball and had no realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was required.
Contact between North Melbourne’s Jack Ziebell and the Western Bulldogs’ Travis Cloke for the fourth quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. The panel said Cloke had the ball and was preparing to kick forward as Ziebell came to meet him. Cloke is in his kicking action as Ziebell seeks to impact the kick. Ziebell makes body contact to Cloke but there was no forceful high contact made to the Western Bulldogs’ player. It was the view of the panel Ziebell’s actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and no further action was taken.
